"Not Dead Yet"

Atlantic Buoy came back to life today, about 250 miles NE of its last reported location. There were few clouds in the area, supporting the theory that the low Sun angle is preventing consistent operations. Working now to delay reporting until later in the (local) day to allow more time to charge the battery. My current theory is that it's trying to send a message too early in the day, using up the battery on the failed attempt, and then trying again every hour unsuccessfully. Messages sent to the Buoy expire after 48 hrs, so my previous instructions to delay reporting were not sent today. Of course, if it keeps moving east, it will effectively report later in the day (local time) and solve the problem itself.
