Lost GPS Today

For the first time in over 1100 reports, Atlantic Buoy didn't send a GPS coordinate this morning. The approximate location plotted is the location reported by the Iridium service based on triangulation between satellites. If this continues, you'll notice a large jump in reported positions going forward, but we'll still be able to watch Atlantic Buoy's progress. Hopefully this was a fluke, but we'll see. Both GPS and Iridium use L-band, so propagation of the signal is not the likely cause. GPS is power cycled after each collection period, so a soft hang in the modem can be ruled out.

Update: Next two updates were normal, so I updated plot based on estimated position and hope this is an anomaly that won't be repeated.
